F38Warning

LG Refrigerator F38 Error Code

The refrigerator compartment temperature is too high (usually >50°F / 10°C). Often caused by poor air flow or a defrost issue.

Common causes

  • Door left open or gasket leak
  • Evaporator fan not running (see rF)
  • Ice buildup blocking air flow from freezer
  • Compressor or refrigerant problem

How to fix it

  1. Check refrigerator door closure and gasket condition.
  2. Ensure both refrigerator and freezer doors are closed; warm air from freezer can affect fridge.
  3. If evaporator coil in freezer is frosted, unplug and defrost.
  4. If fan is not running, check rF error code steps.
⚠ When to call a pro: Call a technician if code returns after defrost and doors are sealed, or if compressor is hot but not running.
