E3Warning

Kenmore Refrigerator E3 Error Code

One of the temperature sensors (thermistors) is reporting an out-of-range value.

Common causes

  • Failed thermistor
  • Wiring short or open
  • Connector corrosion

How to fix it

  1. Locate the thermistor with the error (typically in fresh food or freezer).
  2. Measure resistance at room temperature (should be ~10k ohms).
  3. Replace if resistance is far from spec or open/short.
⚠ When to call a pro: If all thermistors test good but error persists, the control board may be at fault - call a technician.
