The water temperature sensor (thermistor) is open or shorted.
Common causes
- Faulty thermistor
- Wiring issue
- Control board problem
How to fix it
- Check the connector to the thermistor for secure fit
- Measure resistance of thermistor at room temperature (should be ~50 kOhm)
- Replace thermistor if reading is out of spec
